What could go wrong with your DPF Filter?
A common problem with the DPF is that it gets blocked. If the diesel particulate filter gets blocked, it will stop the exhaust gases flowing through the system properly, potentially resulting in the engine overheating.
Often the main cause of the filter being blocked is the engine isn’t getting hot enough when in use. This is common in stop-start traffic as the car is moving very slowly and therefore unable to heat up efficiently. If being in stop-start traffic is a regular occurrence then the soot will continue to build up in the filter, eventually resulting in blockage.
When a blockage in the DPF occurs, your vehicles will notify you with an orange light shaped like the DPF on your dashboard. When this light displays, we advise that you seek assistance from a vehicle technician
as soon as you can.

DPF stands for Diesel Particulate Filter. This filter is implemented into the engine of modern diesel engines to reduce vehicle emissions and pollution released into the atmosphere. Its purpose is to trap soot/particulate matter to allow for the exhaust gases to filter through the system.
